I would say I have a really good work ethic. I feel like I have really good interpersonal skills. I work well in groups and alone, so I feel I could excel in any job. I think I need to work on being better at taking initiative, because sometimes people have to tell me what to do before I do it. I think if I fixed this I would have exceptional work ethic and would become someone anyone would love to have working for them.
When I calculated my work ethic score I was above average in all categories except Dependability. That shocked me because I usually think of myself as a pretty dependable person. Since this is considered the most important trait, I definitely need to make an effort to fix it. At work I need people to know they can count on me for anything.
Interpersonal score is 5.75 out of 7
Initiative score is 5.69 out of 7Dependability total is 5.00 out of 7

Communication
There are tons of people you communicate with and tons of ways to communicate with those people. The difference is how and when you do it. You communicate with different people in different ways. For example, you shouldn't text your boss, "Yo, whats up." You can talk to your friends like that but not your family or boss. Your boss expects you to be respectful, so you should shake their hand and talk professionally. When you greet a family member you should hug them and talk like you love them.
When I'm with my mentor I need to remember to ask any questions I have. I need to learn how he communicates so its easier for me to listen and learn. These things will help me with my mentor and in life.

Week of September 7
This article is packed with helpful tips to help me get the most out of my mentorship experience. I think the most useful part is the do's and dont's. I wish I had that with me every time I went to meet my mentor as a guideline for what to do. And never before now have I thought about the people I could meet and the connections I might form to help me get a job after college. If I do a good job and leave a good impression, I could get a good recommendation from my mentor. Hopefully now I can use these tools to learn a lot from my mentor.

This video was a real eye opener. I have never thought about indifference as the root to a problem, but listening to the speaker talk, it makes perfect sense. So many people in our world have lost the ability to converse with others, and that's really hurting the planet. I hope that by being in this mentorship, it first off shows that I care and am not indifferent, but I also hope I learn from this better than I could in another way. Learning from someone who has experience would give me greater practical knowledge about this job I'm interested in.
As a human being I feel that people should take responsibility and own up to what they do.

Week of August 24
As a part of the Honors Mentorship Program I hope I get to learn about a career path that interests me. I want to have background knowledge to help me in college and the future. I'm excited to work with my mentor Dylan. I think if I listen to what he has to say and make good use of our time together, I will have a great time. I think that by watching Dylan work in his everyday environment, I will gain much more than reading out of a book. Hopefully by the end of the year this will have helped me make a plan for my future.
