Week of November 9th

My internship site helps with my education in many ways. I get hands on experience I couldn't get anywhere else and they've really helped me solidify a career choice. So far this year I've applied to four colleges and taken both the SAT and ACT. The first time I took the SAT I got a pretty average score, so I set a new goal to get a higher score. I get my scores back next week but I think I did pretty good. Throughout my mentorship, my mentor has talked to me about another field similar to athletic training, physical therapy. It is similar to athletic training except you'd be working in an office. Athletic training interests me more because it involves sports. If my mentor needs help with anything, I am always willing to help. He can only ask me to do things that require no training, but its mostly the tedious things that get annoying so I make his life a lot easier.

Week of October 26

Throughout the course of the mentorship, I've learned a lot about what I want to do. At the beginning of the year I didn't know if this would help me that much, but now that I'm a few months in I've started to really enjoy it. I've learned things that I couldn't have learned any other way and my experiences have helped me solidify a career choice.

I was really surprised when Dylan told me how much work it took him to get where he is. I knew it wouldn't be easy but when he detailed his college workload to me I was a little shocked.

There aren't a lot of boring times in this field, but sometimes no one is hurt and you're left sitting in the office. When that happens you have to find something to talk about and that is where I've learned the most. So I've actually learned a lot from the boring parts.
